About the artist
Jocy is a 19 year old self taught artist from Houston, Texas, attending the University of Houston to further her career as an artist. She approaches the world with optimism and a desire to inspire others through eccentric, multilayered artwork that deviates from the world around her. From graffiti tagged on passing trains to the grand halls of the world’s largest museums, she draws inspiration from everything that speaks to her, taking it home, deconstructing it, and creating something new, continuing the infinite chain of artistic influence. This process is evident in works like “Change is Constant” and “Venus de Milo”.
Working with a wide range of mediums, including spray paint, acrylics, oils, pastels, clay, collage, and, most recently, tattooing. Jocy fuses these elements, building textured compositions that reflect a distorted, at times mythical reality, transporting the unexplainable onto a canvas. Her work explores themes of identity, community, chaos, existential crisis, body autonomy, and human connection that transcends.
Since 2021, Jocy has participated in the Houston art scene, showcasing her work in over 25 exhibitions throughout the city. Her art has been featured at The Glassell School of Art, POST Houston, The ION, Sawyer Yards, and at the largest scholastic art exhibition in Texas for four consecutive years. She also has several murals across Houston.
With every ounce of experience fueling her growth, she continues to hone her craft, embracing a journey that’s only just beginning, one rooted in passion and rich with potential:)
